Calgary police issue warrants for driver in fatal Memorial Drive crash

Police are on the hunt for a driver involved in a fatal crash last month.

Global News has learned Calgarian Dale Neisz was behind the wheel when the car he was driving lost control on Memorial Drive on July 2.

The car nearly split in two after hitting the centre median, before it rolled and slammed into a tree.

His passenger, 30-year-old Kanaye Renfrew, died at the scene.

A 32-year-old woman in the back seat of the vehicle was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition. She remains in hospital.

Investigators believe the car was travelling more than 120 kilometres an hour in a 50 km/h zone.

Investigators believe Neisz may have left the province.

On Wednesday, Calgary police announced warrants had been issued for his arrest.

He is charged with:

  • Criminal Negligence Causing Death
  • Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm
  • Impaired Driving Causing Death
  • Impaired Driving Causing Bodily Harm
  • Operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level exceeding 80mg% (.08), causing death
  • Operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol level exceeding 81mg% (.08), causing injury
