Sunshine on Tuesday, but that all changes Wednesday as rain moves in.

July 2016 Statistics

July 2016 saw around average temperatures and precipitation in Saskatoon. SkyTracker Weather

Looking back at the numbers for July, it was a very “average” month.

When looking at all of the days in the month, daytime highs averaged out bang-on our normal daytime high of 25.3 degrees.

Overnight lows were slightly above normal by 0.4 degrees at 12 degrees while our normal average is 11.6.

In terms of precipitation, we were slightly under our normal amount with 53.4 millimetres reported at the airport when normally throughout July, 60.3 millimetres of rain falls.

That’s still 89 per cent of our normal precipitation and coming off a much warmer and slightly drier June, is a significant trend back toward average.

Saskatoon Forecast

Today

The day started out around 12 degrees with sunny skies all morning, continuing through the rest of the day.

In the sun temperatures are expected to rise as high as 27 degrees this afternoon.

Tonight

Clear skies will continue this evening before clouds roll back in just before morning associated with an area of low pressure moving in as the mercury drops back to around 13 degrees.

Wednesday

It will be a cloudy morning with rain beginning midday.

The rain will pickup to be heavy at times in the afternoon with the potential for some embedded thunderstorms in the mix as well.

Temperatures should top out in the low 20s around or just before noon when the rain moves in before falling back into the high teens in the rain through the rest of the afternoon.

Winds may also be a bit breezy – depending on exactly where and how strong this low pressure system develops we could see sustained speeds in the 30 to 40 km/h range with gusts upwards of 50 to 60 km/h possible in the afternoon.

Thursday-Friday

The rest of the work week looks much calmer with a return to a mix of sun and cloud for Thursday and mostly sunny skies possible on Friday.

Daytime highs should settle back into the mid-20s both days with just a slight chance of showers late in the day on Thursday.

Weekend Outlook

At this point, mostly sunny skies look to continue on Saturday with more clouds moving in on Sunday as daytime highs top out in the mid-20s both days.
