The final round of private liquor store applications in Saskatchewan started on Tuesday.

The government is now accepting request for proposals (RFP) for 20 communities. There is one opportunity available in each of the communities.

“As with the third round, successful proponents for these locations will have the option to operate an integrated or standalone operation,” Don McMorris, the minister responsible for the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, said.

The RFP documents outline the criteria, process, timelines and other information required to obtain a retail liquor store permit.

In November 2015, the Saskatchewan government said it would sell off 40 government liquor stores for conversion to privately run stores. Eleven new private liquor stores will also open in what the government believes are under-served communities.
