Speed has been reduced on Highway 21 at the North Saskatchewan River due to clean up operations from the Husky Energy oil spill.
Mounties say the limit is now 60 km/h due to the number of vehicles entering and leaving the highway at the temporary operations site where cleanup efforts are taking place on the river.

The site is the location of the Husky Energy pipeline oil leak, where upwards of 250,000 litres of oil and other material entered the river.
The area was identified as a road hazard by the Saskatchewan Department of Highways.
Police say they are undertaking a number of traffic initiatives to ensure drivers adhere to the new limit, including check stops and speed enforcement.

The average ticket for someone going 20 km/h over the posted speed limit is $130.
There is no word how long the reduced speed limit will be in place.

Mounties are also advising recreational boaters to be mindful of cleanup operations.
Boats from several agencies are on the river taking part in operations at five sites along the river between Maidstone and the Battlefords.
