UPDATE: Evacuation order and alert for Trepanier fire expanded

All areas that were on an evacuation alert from the Trepanier fire are now under an evacuation order, according to the Regional District.

An additional 600 residents will be affected.

The evacuation order covers the following roads:

1st Avenue
2nd Avenue
3rd Avenue
4th Avenue
6th Avenue
7th Avenue
Clements Crescent
Pincushion Place
Ponderosa Drive
Ponderosa Place

Residents are being asked to go to the evacuation centre at the Summerland Arena at 8820 Jubilee East.

The evacuation alert has been expanded to cover the following:

Everything east of Highway 97, including downtown Peachland

The waterfront area from Princeton Avenue to Robinson Place

That alert, which covers Peachland’s downtown core, will affect 832 people.

All together, 1,550 people have been evacuated from the interface fire, which broke Sunday afternoon.
