Police led on chase following theft at a Saskatoon business

Three people have been charged following an alleged theft at a Saskatoon business and a police chase.

Just after 8 p.m. local time, officers were called to the business located in Stonebridge Centre in the 3000-block of Clarence Avenue South.

A man is alleged to have left the store with unpaid merchandise and when approached by store security, threatened the loss prevention officer with a knife.

The man then got into a waiting vehicle.

Officers spotted the vehicle a few minutes later on Circle Drive at 11th Street.

The driver refused to stop for police and continued into the Meadow Green neighbourhood where two men jumped out of the vehicle.

Officers pursued the men and both were taken into custody in the area of the 300-block of Avenue Y South.

Meanwhile, the driver led officer on a short chase, which police say was aborted due to public safety concerns.

She was located several hours later and arrested without incident.

A 30-year-old man is facing charges that include theft, assault with a weapon and breach of probation. He was also wanted on an unrelated warrant.

A 36-year-old man is charged with obstruction. He was also wanted on a number of outstanding warrants.

Both remain in custody following an appearance before a justice of the peace on Sunday.

The driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old woman, is charged with evading police.

She has been released from custody and will be back in court in early August.
