Halifax city officials say there has been an uncontaminated sediment release into Lake Thomas, N.S.
According to the municipality, silt from the new McQuarrie Bridge construction zone in Fall River was accidentally released from a filtration tank into the lake Friday afternoon.

Officials say corrective measures have been taken to control the release and there is no human health risk as a direct result of the sediment release.
Construction work in the waterway has been suspended by provincial Environment Department officials for the time being.
