Back to the Future fans were in for a thrill Sunday night as Michael J. Fox took the stage with Coldplay in New Jersey, playing guitar as the band rocked out to the classic tune Johnny B. Goode.
The classic movie scene features Fox singing and playing guitar at a school dance. Sunday night Fox showed he’s still got some of his old moves, despite his health issues.
Fox, 55, has lived with Parkinson’s disease since a 1991 diagnosis. Parkinson’s is a neurodegenerative disease; common symptoms include tremors, slowness and stiffness, impaired balance and muscle rigidity. There is no cure.

Fox has been open about needing a “drug cocktail” to help manage his symptoms.
He has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the disease. The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research has raised millions — often with the help of Fox’s influential friends, including Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
“That’s a dream come true, thank you Michael,” Martin said Sunday night. “You’re a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful man.”
Edmonton-born Fox remains a Canadian icon, and he has friends in high places: in March he received a coveted invite to the White House as U.S. President Barack Obama hosted a state dinner for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
