MONTREAL – Firefighters were called in early Saturday morning to battle a blaze at a duck factory in Lac Brome, 95 kilometres east of Montreal.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but damage is said to be extensive.

Firefighters from surrounding municipalities had to be called in to assist the local crew.

In January, more than 50,000 ducks perished in a fire in Racine, Que. The farm belonged to the same company, Canards du Lac Brome.
