MONTREAL – Part of the Decarie Expressway was closed in both directions Tuesday afternoon after a major fire.
Around 4 p.m. a passenger vehicle collided with a truck.
The impact ignited the diesel tanks on the truck and the fire quickly spread to the rest of the trailer.
“[Decarie is] closed between Côte Saint-Luc and Queen Mary,” said Ronald McInnis, a spokesperson with the Sûreté du Québec.
“The car is not on fire anymore, it was controlled by the fire department.”
Montreal firefighters put it out around 5 p.m., continuing to hose it down for safety.
According to Claude Denis from Sûreté Québec, nobody in the accident was injured.
