KINGSTON, Ont. — A 25-year-old Kingston, Ont., man is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting one police officer and attempting to disarm another.
Kingston police say two officers sent Sunday evening to look into a report of a man causing a disturbance by yelling and swearing found a suspect standing on a lawn.
They say the man allegedly became verbally abusive to the officers and, from his actions, they believed him to be suffering from mental health issues and under the influence of drugs.

Police say the man allegedly spat on one officer, then lunged at the second officer and attempted to grab his sidearm, but he was eventually brought under control and arrested.
They say the man fled from the booking room while still handcuffed, and allegedly attempted to bite an officer after being caught.
The man, who police say was under the influence of crystal methamphetamine, is charged with assaulting police, attempting to disarm a police officer, resisting arrest, escape lawful custody and causing a disturbance.
