It’s called Tsunami and it’s the first aquatic roller coaster on the continent.

“In the whole world, there’s only two rides like it: Siam Park in the Canary Islands, and now at Super Aqua Club,” said Rick Hunter, President and CEO of Proslide Technology Inc.

The new ride opened on Monday, and propels riders up and down with tremendous force.

“I’ve been trying rides all over the world – water slides – but I’m not calling this a water slide,” said Réjean Julien Proulx, Super Aqua Club CEO.

“It’s a totally different animal, it’s so much fun.”

Tsunami uses new propulsion technology that moves about eight to 10,000 gallons of water a minute.

“Usually, you only go down on a water slide. This one, you go up, but it’s water jets that push you up,” explained Hunter.

Former Montreal Alouette Étienne Boulay was one of the first to try the ride.

“This is amazing. It’s so fast and it picks up steam when you get to the turns,” he said.

“It’s great. It’s the fastest ride I have ever been on. I’m no expert, but this is really, really fun.”

“I’ve become a family guy ever since I retired. So, I always try to find a cool mix of fun stuff to do for the kids and for me, and this is the perfect setting.”

Tsunami cost $3.5 million to build.
