A rally was held today over growing concerns about rapid development in a Langley community.
Residents are concerned most of the trees at a 45-and-a-half acre site in Brookswood/Fernridge will be clear-cut. They claim council is approving spot development in six areas before the public is consulted about a new community plan for the area.
A public hearing is planned for tomorrow over a proposal to develop 72 single family lots at 198th Street and 32nd Avenue.
“We have several land packages, developments that are in second and third reading. They’re about to be passed, rezoned for development, 97 per cent of the trees are going to be clear cut, and residents of the area, we’d like to see town council change that,” said Michael McGarry, who lives in the area.
Today’s rally allowed people a chance to sign a petition and fill out forms for a new community association.
