Five people in custody in Halifax following two separate incidents

Halifax Regional Police arrested five people overnight in two separate incidents but so far no charges have been laid.

Police say two men and one woman are in custody following a robbery at the Robie Street Irving.

Cigarettes, money and other store merchandise was stolen from the gas station at knifepoint, according to a police report.

The store clerk was not physically injured during the robbery, Staff Sgt. Greg Mason said. The robbery was reported while in progress at 5 a.m. Sunday.

Store staff gave the description of two men suspected of committing the robbery. According to police, the suspects were unknown to store staff.

Police said three people were arrested a short time later on West Street in connection with the incident.

An investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information about the robbery to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

Dartmouth break and enter

A 41-year-old man was assaulted in a break and enter late Saturday evening in Dartmouth, according to a police report.

Police allege two people – who were known to the victim – broke into his apartment on Farrell Street. They said the victim was not injured.

Officers were called to the home at 11:30 p.m. and arrested a 33-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman.

Both remain in custody and police said their investigation is ongoing.
