At least 15 people inside fatal house fire in North End, police say

WINNIPEG — Two people are dead following a fatal house fire in the North End early Thursday morning.

A three-storey home in the 100 block of Austin Street North went up in flames around 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

When crews arrived, the fire was well-involved and smoke could be seen billowing from the home.

Police said 15 people came out of the building when the fire occurred.

Two men were found dead inside, each of them in a different location within the building.

So far, there is no word on the estimation of the damage, and the cause is still being investigated.

Police confirm they were “aware of the house, had been there before”.

Aberdeen Avenue Fire

Another fatal fire broke out in the 200 block of Aberdeen Avenue Wednesday evening.

This one happened just after 6 p.m. and claimed the life of one man.

Police said a 50-year-old was pulled from the burning building. Investigators say the body was badly burned. Police said the fire was caused cooking in the kitchen and is not deemed suspicious.
