A 33-year-old Mississauga man found suffering from gunshots wounds inside a car in Ajax, Ont. late Monday evening in what is being described as a drive-by shooting has died in hospital, Durham Regional Police say.
Officers were called to the scene on Ducatel Crest and Ventura Lane around 10:30 p.m. and located a male victim inside a black sedan parked at the front entrance of a townhouse complex.
Images from the scene showed the vehicle riddled with multiple bullet holes. Police say the male victim, identified as Vernie Ferrigon, was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition but succumbed to his injuries Tuesday morning.

There’s no word yet on any suspects but police say they are looking for a large black SUV vehicle seen fleeing the area.
Witnesses who were in the vicinity at the time are being urged to come forward with information that might be helpful with the investigation.
The shooting death is Durham Region’s fourth homicide of 2016.
