Police are investigating after human remains were found in a gravel pit in the La Ronge, Sask. area on Canada Day.

RCMP said officers went to a gravel pit approximately six-and-a-half kilometres south of the Lac La Ronge First Nation, where they found the remains of an adult male.

The man’s identity has not been confirmed and an autopsy is underway at the Saskatoon City Hospital.

La Ronge RCMP continue to investigate.
