Edmonton fire crews were called to battle a blaze at a restaurant in the west end Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to Tumbleweeds Texas and Latin Grill in the area of 111 Avenue and 152 Street at around 7:30 a.m. after passersby noticed smoke coming from the building.

“When the first arriving crews went in it was really hot, and thick, black smoke. Temperatures were up,” Gary Gamble, acting district chief with Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, said.
“The fire got into the roof so it’s been kind of stubborn.”
Gamble said crews were able to contain the flames to Tumbleweeds, but two businesses to the west of it sustained smoke damage.
The blaze was quickly brought under control. Fire crews remained on scene late Sunday morning to put out hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
