Troy Becker and Marion Sallenbach each received the Medal of Good Citizenship during a Canada Day celebration at Kelowna’s Prospera Place.

Becker was honoured for his work with people with disabilities.

He’s a full-time firefighter and has been a volunteer with search and rescue since 2001.

Becker created the Community Recreation Initiatives Society which runs annual camps throughout the province for groups like Spinal Cord Injury British Columbia and families with children with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Sallenbach, meantime, was recognized for her 50 years of volunteering with the Hospital Auxiliary in Winfield during which time she raised thousands of dollars for Kelowna General Hospital.
