TORONTO – Lance Armstrong, the most famous cyclist in the world, will be stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned for life from riding.
The U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) made the stunning announcement late Thursday after Armstrong dropped his fight against charges he used performance-enhancing drugs.

The cyclist could lose other awards and titles and, if it chooses to do so, the International Olympic Committee could strip him of the bronze medal he won in 2000.
Armstrong, now retired from racing, said he declined to be a part of the USADA arbitration process, calling the investigation an “unconstitutional witch hunt.”
He said the allegations that he cheated by using performance-enhancing drugs have taken a toll on his family and the work he does for his foundation that raises funds for cancer research.
