Fire in bathtub causes evacuation of Calgary hotel

 Calgary police took one person into custody after a fire forced the evacuation of the Comfort Inn on Banff Trail.

Fire crews were called to the hotel around 4:30 Monday afternoon, for reports of a fire in the bathroom of one of the suites.

By the time firefighters arrived the blaze was already out, and damage was contained to one suite. However, the building had to be evacuated due to heavy smoke.

Investigators said barbecue materials were found in the bathtub.

Police arrested one person on scene – but so far they haven’t determined if charges will be laid.
