A Florida woman is facing an abduction charge after police say she tried to kidnap an 8 year old girl in Stonewall on Friday.
In a RCMP news release, officers say the girl was left alone inside a vehicle parked near a mall in the town north of Winnipeg. It is alleged that’s when a stranger repeatedly asked the girl to get into another vehicle.
The police were called and investigators found the woman and her vehicle nearby. They arrested 22-year-old Loryn Sauerwein. She has been charged with abduction of a person under 14.
The release said the charge was laid because “there was enticement to take the child away from their legal guardian.”
If convicted the suspect could face up to 10 years behind bars.
