KELOWNA — A Kelowna family has been forced to find another place to live following a house fire Sunday.
The fire was reported shortly before 6:30 p.m. at a residence on Wilkinson Street.
Officials say smoke was coming from the south side of the residence when they arrived on scene.
“Initial crews applied water from the exterior of the structure to give the interior attack team enough time to enter the structure,” says KFD Platoon Captain, Tim Light. “After the fire was extinguished an extensive overhaul was done due to the fire getting into the wall space in the residence.”
Light says there were no injuries but the home owners will not be able to return until repairs and cleanup are done.
He says the owners are insured.
Officials say the cause was accidental. They say the owner had been soldering some plumbing before the fire started.
