WINNIPEG — The roughly 30 members of the Hedges Middle School running club crossed the finish line Sunday morning after weeks of training.
“I think it means a lot,” Ashley Allan, an education assistant at the school said Sunday after running with the students. “It’s a great way to see them connect.”

The running club received brand new Skechers running shoes on May 13 in preparation for the race. The sneakers were provided to the students by Global News, 680 CJOB and Skechers to put them on the road to the finish line of the Manitoba Marathon’s Super Run.

“I did it in grade three, this year and I’m going to do again next year,” said Grade 6 student Logan Edginton. “I had fun running with everybody.”
Students were transported to the Manitoba Marathon and had their Super Run entry fees covered.
Hedges Middle School is one of 100 schools participating in this year’s Manitoba Marathon Champions in Training program. The goal is to introduce kids to an active lifestyle.
