REVELSTOKE – While Revelstoke RCMP thought they were pulling over an impaired driver, instead, they apprehended an apparent drug trafficker.
Police spotted the man swerving out of his lane on the Trans-Canada Highway just before 1:30 a.m. last Friday. When RCMP pulled him over to check his sobriety, they located and seized a hundred pounds of marijuana in the vehicle, with a street of more than $350,000. The pot was located in vacuum-sealed bags, inside large duffel bags. Approximately $8,600 cash was also seized.
The driver, a 42-year-old Coquitlam man, is facing possession and trafficking charges. He has been released from custody, but is scheduled to appear in Revelstoke Provincial Court September 7.
