A severe thunderstorm watch has been ended for Saskatoon, but remains for parts of central and southern Saskatchewan. Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that could produce large hail and damaging wind gusts.
The trigger for Tuesday’s storms will be a cold front approaching from Alberta, moving into Saskatchewan in the afternoon and evening.

Environment Canada says some of the storms could be severe before the cold front associated with the storms begins to weaken late Tuesday evening and overnight by the time they reach eastern Saskatchewan.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.

Today
A mix of sun and cloud started the day with a low around 9 degrees very early this morning.
A few more clouds built in midday as temperatures quickly rose up into the mid-20s by noon, up to 28 degrees by 1 p.m., which is where we are expected to sit through the afternoon with humidex values pushing into the low 30s.
Clouds will in late this afternoon and winds will pick up at sustained speeds upwards of 30 to 40 km/h with gusts into the 50 to 60 km/h range at times into the evening hours.
Tonight
The severe thunderstorm watch is for storms moving into the Saskatoon into the early evening hours.
This will be a line of storms that will be marginally severe with strong wind gusts and sizeable hail possible, however with the loss of energy from daytime heating, they will weaken through the evening.
Early in the morning hours clouds will clear out and depending on the timing of that, temperatures could fall back as far as 8 degrees or so.
Wednesday
Tomorrow will start off sunny with some clouds moving in late in the day.
Winds will remain fairly brisk from the south-southwest sustained speeds upwards of 30 km/h with gusts upwards of 50 km/h in the afternoon.
We will be much cooler on the backside of the system with an afternoon high expected to top out just into the low 20s.
Thursday-Friday
Wet weather moves in Thursday along with a low pressure system and cloud cover before clearing out a bit with some more sunshine for Friday.
Depending on the timing of the rain, we’ll be scraping to hit the high teens Thursday, but we should return to the low 20s for a daytime high on Friday.
Weekend Outlook
A mix of sun and cloud is expected both Saturday and Sunday with afternoon highs in the low 20s and a better chance of showers late in the day on Saturday.
