Maroon 5 lead singer Adam Levine has offered to pay the funeral expenses of Christina Grimmie, the former Voice contestant who was shot and killed after performing at a concert in Orlando, Fla., on Friday.

Grimmie’s brother Marcus, posted to his Facebook page that Levine had extended the offer to help. Apparently, Levine called Grimmie’s mother and said he’d pay for the entire funeral and her flight.
Levine was Grimmie’s coach when she competed on the sixth season of The Voice.
Grimmie’s brother also said that the GoFundMe page created by her manager Brian Teefey is helping with funeral expenses — as of this writing, donations have topped US$100,000.

“Words cannot express… literally I have no words,” wrote Marcus Grimmie. “I promise both my parents and I will read every one of these personalized messages. I’m so blown away by everything right now. But all I can say is thank you. And Christina will be missed and never ever forgotten.”

The 22-year-old died after being shot following a performance in Orlando on Friday, according to her publicist.
At a news conference late Friday, police officials said Grimmie was shot around 10:45 p.m. local time at The Plaza Live, where she had performed with the band Before You Exit earlier that night.
Police said the suspect shot Grimmie after her show, while merchandise was being sold and autographs signed. Officials also said that Grimmie’s brother tackled the shooter who then shot himself.

There is no official date set for Grimmie’s funeral.
