A worker was burned during an industrial accident Thursday morning at the Co-op refinery in Regina.
At 8:45 a.m., an employee was checking a gauge when he was sprayed by hot diesel. The worker suffered burns to his calves on his lower legs.
Brad DeLorey, director of communications and public relations for the Co-op refinery, said the employee was doing a regular procedure.
“Our priority at the time is the health and wellness of the employee and so we will immediately begin the investigation as to determine what the cause of this was,” DeLorey said.

The employee was treated at the site then transferred to Regina General Hospital.
DeLorey said the accident did not affect production at the refinery.
“It was an isolated area, it was immediately looked after and production remained normal.”
Co-op refinery is conducting an internal investigation. Saskatchewan’s Occupational Health and Safety has confirmed it will be going to the refinery to do an inspection.
