On hand for the rally were Rush players Mark Matthews, Robert Church and Nik Bilic along with team president Lee Genier and Mayor Don Atchison.

“The community’s been behind us the whole season so far. Just to see this to cap it off, it’s a beautiful thing,” Bilic said.

The team’s president stressed how the rally wasn’t just a celebration of the championship, but also a way to thank Rush supporters.

“The fans of this city and this province and the fans that came to every game [and] watched us from afar — that’s what made this team great,” Genier said.
