WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for a walk-off victory.
The Goldeyes defeated the Lincoln Saltdogs 6-5 in the rubber match on Sunday at Shaw Park. Winnipeg took two of three games from Lincoln.
Trailing 5-3 in the ninth inning Casio Grider started the comeback with his second home run of the season to make it a one run game. The Goldeyes were handed the game tying run when Saltdogs reliever Jeff McKenzie was called for a balk. Maikol Gonzalez then drove in the game winning run with a single to left field to score Adam Heisler from second base.
Jacob Rogers also hit a home run for Winnipeg while Rene Leveret went deep for Lincoln in a losing effort.
Goldeyes starting pitcher Kevin McGovern (0-0) took a fourth straight no decision. He pitched seven strong innings and gave up only four hits. He allowed three runs but only one was earned as the Goldeyes committed four errors.
Jailen Peguero faced just two batters but picked up the win to improve to 2-1. McKenzie was saddled with the loss as he fell to 0-2.
The Goldeyes will embark on a seven game road trip starting tomorrow in Sioux City against the Explorers.
