Occupation Health and Safety and the RCMP are investigating a workplace death at a fertilizer plant near Gibbons.
It happened at Agrium’s Redwater Fertilizer Operations at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night.
Two workers were in a building working with phosphate rock when one was buried.
OHS said the man who died was 30 years old. The other worker was not injured.
OHS said the employer is Carey Industrial Services.
There does not appear to be any suspicious or criminal activity involved in the man’s death, RCMP said.
Gibbons is located about 35 kilometres north of Edmonton.
