KELOWNA – Arson is suspected in an overnight fire in Kelowna.

Just before midnight, two large piles of recycled cardboard and plastics were set ablaze at the Cascades Recovery plant on Cambro Road.

KFD platoon captain, Eric Simpson, says the fire is definitely suspicious and RCMP arson investigators have been called in.

Firefighters were on scene for about seven hours battling the stubborn blaze as a forklift had to be used to separate the bundled piles to get water into them.

The flames did not spread to the nearby structures.
