A young man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times across from a school in Rexdale, blocks from where a pregnant woman was gunned down last month.
At least 13 shell casings littered the road on Pittsboro Drive near Finch Ave West after shots rang out around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The large crime scene indicates the 20-year-old victim was riding a bike when he was shot. He was conscious when paramedics arrived. A neighbour told Global News his mother and grandmother rushed to the hospital after him.

Supt. Ron Taverner of the local police division called the gunfire “totally disgusting” — the same response he had to the slaying of Candice Bobb, who was 24 weeks’ pregnant when gunned down in the back seat of a vehicle May 15.
“It just speaks to the whole gun violence issue,” Taverner said of the weeks-apart shootings.
