The Texas Department of Transportation is searching for answers after a trio of electronic road signs were hacked in less than 48 hours, including having one sign’s scrolling message changed to read “Donald Trump Is A Shape Shifting Lizard.”

A second sign located along Interstate-30 in Dallas was altered Monday to simply read “Bernie For President.”
A third doctored sign was spotted early Tuesday morning informing drivers “Work is Canceled – Go Back Home.”
The original hack occurred Monday morning when at least one of the signs was discovered encouraging Memorial Day drivers to “Party Hardy Yall!”
Texas Department of Transportation spokesman Tony Hartzel said Monday the road sign contractor had “taken steps to secure the sign.”
But clearly not in time as a second attack occurred later on Monday.
The transportation department confirmed the signs were turned off early Tuesday morning.
The signs are used to warn drivers of road construction, and Hartzel urged motorists to refrain from stopping in construction areas.
“Due to safety concerns, we strongly discourage people from stopping in work zones to create situations such as this.”
The Texas Department of Transportation also had their signs hacked last July.
Authorities still do not know who is responsible for Monday’s hacks, or if the attacks occurred on-site or remotely.
