The Saskatchewan School Boards Association says it wants a say in any changes the government is planning to the education system. Premier Brad Wall has said health and education will begin undergoing “transformational change” this year, but hasn’t provided any details.
Connie Bailey, president of the association, says it is essential the government collaborate with locally elected school boards before any changes or made.

Bailey also said school boards need sufficient funding, which should be based on projected enrolment, not last year’s numbers.
She said proper funding is needed to meet the changing needs and growing number of students in many divisions, regardless of where they live.
The association represents 28 school divisions across the province.
