Residents of a Surrey neighbourhood are still wondering what went on in their own community a day after heavily armed officers surrounded a home on 132a Street last night.
“It was really surreal. It was right out of a movie,” said Tracey Stodgell.
It happened in the 10900-block of the street at around 7:30 p.m. on May 29. An emergency team – including six police cars, an armoured vehicle and a K-9 Unit – descended on the house, and two people were immediately arrested.
“The police officer came running from our left side, telling us to stay in the house, that there’s a situation happening, and we need to be in our house for safety,” said Stodgell.
A standoff then ensured with the other people inside the house – with neighbours wondering what was going on.
“When we saw and heard two stun grenades that went off, it shook our windows and was quite startling. Hearts were pounding.”
The street was locked down for several hours, but police were able to arrest the remaining residents of the house and secure the scene.

Police have not confirmed reports that a gun safe and drugs were recovered, but late this afternoon, Global News learned the raid was coordinated by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit to assist a file with Kamloops RCMP.
Neighbours, meanwhile, are still unsure why their quiet community was overrun.
“I just felt vulnerable that it could happen anywhere. This is supposed to be our safe haven,” said Stodgell.
