Surrey high school students shamed on social media after campsite mess

A group of Surrey high school students were shamed on social media for trashing a campsite near Harrison Lake.

It’s believed an unsanctioned grad party, with students from Elgin Park Secondary School, is to blame.

Last year, students from Earl Marriott Secondary were responsible for a similar incident at a nearby campground.

Elgin Park’s principal sent a letter to the parents of all Grade 11 and 12 students.

According to Doug Strachan of the Surrey School District, the principal “expressed his disappointment and how appalled he was.”

“We’ve heard back from a lot of parents and some students that they too are appalled,” he added.
