Manitoba border guards to receive additional training to prevent child abductions

WINNIPEG — Officers working along the Canada-United States border will receive ‘enhanced’ training to better identify situations involving missing, sexually abused and exploited children.

The Canadian Centre for Child Protection says its working on the pilot project in Manitoba to improve officer training.

The Canada Border Services Agency says over the last 30 years its intercepted 1,800 missing children at Canada’s borders.

It’s not clear what’s involved in the additional training or what the cost of the pilot program might be.
