A 28-year-old man has been arrested and sent to hospital following a police-involved shooting on Hastings near Cassiar Street Tuesday afternoon.
Vancouver Police say officers were responding to a call in the area when they were told of a car fire.
Witnesses told Global News they saw a vehicle with a Quebec licence plate on fire in the parking lot of a McDonald’s restaurant in the area.
Police say officers tried to keep the public away from the fire when they were confronted by a man with a knife. According to police, “the man allegedly came at the officers and shots were fired.”

Police say the man suffered a gunshot wound and number of stab wounds that were likely self-inflicted.
The suspect was transported to hospital where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are expected to be in the area for several hours.
The Independent Investigations Office has been deployed to investigate.
