The annual application period for moose hunting licences in 2016 opens on May 16 in New Brunswick.
More than 60,000 people applied for the 4592 licences in the 2015 season. A total of 3729 moose were harvested.
This year, the province is adding an additional 51 licences, for a total of 4643. The five day season runs from September 20 to 24.
You can apply for a moose licence in several ways:
- Calling 1-900-565-1500. The application fee will be billed to the number you use to make the call.
- Calling 1-888-922-3729 (toll free). The application fee will be billed to the caller’s Visa or MasterCard account.
- Visiting the Department of Natural Resources website and applying through the new e-licensing system. The application fee will be billed to the applicant’s Visa, MasterCard or debit account.
- Going in person to an authorized vendor or any Service New Brunswick Centre.
The cost of applying for a licence is $9.38 (HST included).
Hunters have until closing time on June 10 to apply for a licence in person; until 8 p.m. to apply by phone; and until midnight to apply online.
