EDMONTON — A 25-year-old Edmonton man has been charged with first-degree murder in the 2014 death of a man in Richmond, B.C.
On Tuesday, the Edmonton Police Service announced charges against David Nguyen in the October 2014 shooting death of Theoren Poitras.
In the early morning hours of Oct. 2, 2014, Poitras was found face down in a pool of blood in the northwest corner of RC Talmey Elementary School in Richmond after reports of shots fired. Poitras was known to police in Alberta for his involvement with gangs, according to Richmond RCMP.

Nguyen has been in custody since his arrest in March 2015. He faces a total of 20 criminal charges in Edmonton including break and enter, robbery with a firearm, unlawful confinement, aggravated assault and several other firearms charges.
In March 2015, Sean Jennings, 28 of Edmonton, was charged with first-degree murder in Poitras’ death.
