Engine separates from car in Idylwyld Drive crash

SASKATOON – A woman is recovering and police have launched an impaired driving investigation following an overnight crash in Saskatoon. The single-vehicle collision happened Thursday just after 2 a.m. CT on Idylwyld Drive North.

According to police, the vehicle was heading southbound when the driver lost control north of 51st Street and struck a concrete barrier in the centre of the highway.

Saskatoon Fire Department officials say the force of the impact was hard enough for the engine to separate from the car.

A 20-year-old woman was found walking around and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say charges are pending.
