A tourist captured a rare dust devil form on a Hawaiian beach on Monday that sent beach umbrellas twirling through the air and forced beach goers to seek cover.
The video shows the funnel cloud lift at least five umbrellas into the air, sending them flying dangerously toward swimmers and sunbathers.
“That’s really dangerous,” said Laurel Prior, the woman who captured the video.
At one point in the video, a couple can be seen running from the water’s edge to avoid the swirling beach equipment.
People can be heard yelling “get back,” as the sun seekers escape the beach.
“Unbelievable,” Prior said. “That was the weirdest thing.”
The incident lasted just over a minute.
