Police say ‘serious incident’ on Alexander Avenue a homicide

WINNIPEG — Police are looking for ‘two persons of interest’ after a 52-year-old man was stabbed on Alexander Avenue Wednesday.

Police say they were called to Alexander and Dee Street after a man was found with stab wounds. Uta Gheorghe later died in hospital.

Late Wednesday Winnipeg police took to its Twitter account  to issue a warning that officers were on scene of a ‘serious incident’ at home in the West End.

On Thursday morning police said they were looking for two persons of interest to assist in their  “homicide investigation.”

Police are now looking for a man and a woman described as ‘persons of interest’. The man was wearing a dark hooding with baseball cap underneath. Witnesses say he was riding a blue mountain bike.  The woman was wearing a light coloured zip up hoody and black pants. Police say she was seen riding a white mountain bike. Both are described as in their twenties.
