Police identify two children drowned in Port Burwell, Ont.

TORONTO – Police have released the identity of two children who died after being rescued from Lake Erie in Port Burwell Friday afternoon.

David Harder, 7, and his 10-year-old sister Lisa Harder were pulled out of the water around 4 p.m. at a nearby beach about 70 kilometres from London, Ontario.

Police say three youths were in distress, one was rescued, and the other two were airlifted by helicopter to Victoria Hospital in London in serious condition but later succumbed to their injuries.

The victims were brother and sister from Glenmeyer, Norfolk County.

OPP say the investigation into how the two children drowned is ongoing.
