MONTREAL – Sebastian Giovinco scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season as Toronto FC cooled off the Montreal Impact with a 2-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.
The reigning Major League Soccer MVP scored from the penalty spot in the first half and on a counterattack in the second as TFC (3-2-2) won a second game in a row and continued their strong form on an extended road trip. It was TFC’s seventh straight road game to start the campaign.

They avenged a 3-0 loss at Montreal in the playoffs last October and kept silent the Impact’s goal bell – manned for the day by MMA star Georges St. Pierre – silent with another strong defensive
effort.
Montreal (4-3-0), which has won two in a row, ended a 9-0-0 run at Saputo Stadium since Didier Drogba became a regular starter on Sept. 5 of last year.
Impact right back Hassoun Camara left with a leg injury in the 20th minute, causing Ambroise Oyonto to move to the right side when Maxim Tissot came on for his first action of the season.
In the 39th, Jozy Altidore dribbled past Oyongo and was taken down in the penalty area by a sliding Victor Cabrera. Referee Ted Unkel immediately pointed to the spot.
