EDMONTON – A Lamont County official told Global News a wildfire that destroyed two homes and over a dozen other structures was declared under control Tuesday night.
The fire was deemed under control as of 8:37 p.m. but fire crews will remain at the scene throughout the night to watch for flare-ups and to monitor hotspots.
Two firefighters were injured while battling the blaze but both are listed in stable condition.

The fire started Monday at around 1:15 p.m. and spread quickly.
A number of homes were evacuated Monday night.
The fire had burned between 12 and 15 square miles by 1 p.m.

On Tuesday, residents were told evacuation was still recommended but not mandatory. There was no state of local emergency in place.

Lamont County was under a complete fire ban as of Tuesday morning.
