Toronto Zoo officials are warning people not to try what was shown in a viral video posted online Saturday.
The video shows a woman jumping the fence of the tiger enclosure at the zoo to retrieve a fallen hat.
The tiger is seen stalking the woman from behind a second fence as she climbs back over to the public.
Bystanders in the video can be seen getting visibly upset over the incident, and can be heard calling the jumper a “moron.”

“It does set a bad example,” Toronto Zoo spokesperson Jennifer Tracey told Global News.
“From that perspective we would encourage people to follow … zoo rules and just be conscious of your surroundings as well. Zoo staff is there to help, should there be anything like this happening in the future.”

Tracey also said there was danger for the woman.
“Not only could you have injured yourself, just by jumping over the boardwalk, but there’s stress that could be caused to the animal.”
Tracey explained that the attendant who watches the tiger enclosure also keeps an eye on other animals in the area and was probably at another pen when the incident occurred.
