Summer Faith Turner, 25, and her boyfriend, Joseph Lewis Swilling, 29, were arrested on Wednesday after forcibly tattooing two young children, ages four and eight.

Both individuals have been charged with two counts of child abuse.

If convicted, they can face up to life in prison.

According to police, Turner and Swilling were under the influence when they gave Turner’s four-year-old boy a smiley face and the eight-year-old a purple dot.

Turner allegedly held down each young boy while Swilling performed the alleged action.

The eight-year-old only received a dot because he was able to “get away and get his grandmother,” according to KXII News.

Vicky Kersey, the grandmother of the boys and mother to Turner, said the children tend to call her mommy and ask if she can be their parent instead.

“I would be happy to be their mommy,” Kersey told KXII.

Kersey also said she needs help in keeping the children away from their mother and gaining full custody of them.

“How am I supposed to protect the boys from being abused if I can’t get no help or I can’t stop her from taking them?” she added. “I want my grandsons back. I need them as much as they do me.”

Kersey plans on filing a restraining order against  her daughter and Swilling.
