Pedestrian killed in collision on Downtown Eastside

Vancouver Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian on the Downtown Eastside.

Shortly before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning, an 89-year-old woman was struck by a slow-moving semi-truck and trailer attempting to make a left turn at Main and Hastings Street.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and has been cooperative with police. Investigators believe the driver entered the intersection on a green light.

Traffic in the area was diverted for several hours as police collected evidence.

Police continue to speak with witnesses and canvass for any possible video of the incident.
